  • Condition: This is an Original Red Ute / Edward Bent Box Sr. Traditional Handmade Indian Flute. The flute has a label that says that it is made of Yellow Heart wood and has a white totem attached on top. This flute is signed ""RU" and retains it's original tag. The flute has leather strips attached, burnt decorations with red marker highlights. It is a 6 hole flute marked "F#". This flute appears new and unused. The flute measures approximately 21-7/8 inches long and 1-1/8 inch in diameter. The totem measures approximately 2-3/8 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1-1/2 inches tall. This flute is one of the last remaining original pieces purchased from the maker's estate. Please see photos.

    Edward Bent Box / Red Ute - his Indian Name, (April 1, 1920 - September 18, 2012) was a Traditional Spiritual Leader of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and member of the Moache-Capote Bands of the Ute Nation.
    One of his greatest passions was traditional Indian flute-making. He was a member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Assn. (IACA), Southern Highland Craft Guild, and the International Native American Flute Assn. (INAFA).
