    Description

Up for auction/sale is a sample of the First Barrel of oil taken from the Trans Alaska Pipeline system at mile marker 355 Prudhoe Bay, Alaska dated July 28, 1977. I don't know how many of these "mile markers" exist, but I have seen at least 5 different First Barrel mile marker points.
I also found a June 1978 issue of the OMAR (
Organization for the Management of Alaska's Resources)
resource review which stated there were only 799 of these made from each mile marker where barrels are extracted (see For Reference Only image)
Rather you (or someone you know) was part of the Alaskan pipeline system, or your an avid collector of Petroliana, this is a fairly rare opportunity to add one of these mile marker pieces into your collection. This slanted Lucite block shows some minor scuffing, but there are no chips or cracks, and the paperweight presents beautifully. The rough overall measurements are 3 7/8" tall, 3" wide, has a 1 3/4" deep (front-back) base, and a 1" (front-back) top.
I have described this Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline paperweight as best I can, but to augment my description I have provided several high-resolution images from varying angles to allow for a detailed review of quality, condition, and desirability.
This will be packaged with care to best ensure this rarely offered piece of Oil Pipeline history arrives as pictured and described.
