2022 Summit Series 50th anniversary
This 2022  toonie coin is
minted in brilliant uncirculated finish and has the coloured logo representing the 50th anniversary of the famous 1972 Summit Series of Hockey.  This coin is taken from a special wrap roll direct from the mint.  It is 28 mm in diameter and weighs 6.99 grams. The outer ring is minted in three ply nickel finish plated steel.  The inner ring is brass-plated aluminum bronze.  Your coin will be protected in a 2 x 2 cardboard holder.  NO CASE OR CERTIFICATE INCLUDED.
Fifty years later, the intensity and excitement of the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union (U.S.S.R.) still live on in the collective memory of Canadians, along with the heart, grit and determination demonstrated by members of Team Canada. Their legacy and team spirit are proudly honoured on the 2022 commemorative circulation coins. Each coin features the same colour accents on the reverse: red on the Team Canada 1972 Summit Series uniform; and red on the jersey’s iconic maple leaf, which appears in the background.
